Occupational Therapy
Occupational therapy is a broad field in which therapists focus on supporting people of all ages in accomplishing the daily activities that are important to them. In my practice, I focus on working with children under 8 years to participate in the things that are important to them and their families:
Play- independently & with peers
Learning- at school, home or wherever your child learns
Family activities- family meals, playing with siblings, being out and about in the community
The process
Evaluation
I will spend time with you, your child, and anyone else who has knowledge about your child to learn as much as possible about them. Evaluation might include any of the following:
Formal assessment measures
Observation of your child at home or school
Conversations with important adults- you, other family members, teachers and others who know your child well
Treatment
We will decide together what kind of treatment fits your family best
Weekly sessions with your child at home or school
Weekly parent coaching sessions
Short term parent coaching- we can meet 2-3 times to create a plan for your family
Trauma Consultation For Families
The Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics™ is a model, developed by Dr. Bruce Perry, that helps understand how children and youth have been impacted by their early experiences. We know that experience shapes the brain- the environment and relationships a child has in their early life will influence how they develop from their relationships with family and peers to how they learn in school.
Trauma consultation can help you understand your child through the lens of their brain development and make plans for supporting them in a developmentally and neurologically sound way.

Information Gathering
I’ll gather information about your child’s experiences and relationships from you and other important adults in your child’s life. This information will be used to generate a “metric report” and I will write an individualized report for your child.
Review
We’ll meet to discuss the results of the metric and what they mean for your child
Strategy Planning
We’ll collaborate about how to use this new knowledge about your child to design daily routines and activities to best support your child’s growth and development
